Overview
Extension of the post thaw expiry of Spikevax® COVID-19 vaccine is no longer supported by Moderna.
Background
In February 2022, Moderna permitted certain thawed batches of Spikevax® to have their post-thaw expiry dates extended from 30 to 60 days. This permission is no longer applicable and so the SPS standard operating procedure supporting the process has been withdrawn.
All Spikevax® is supplied from the NHS’s logistics partners is already labelled with a 30-day post-thaw expiry date. No extensions may be applied.
Spikevax® stock which has already had a post-thaw expiry extension applied may be used until the extended expiry date.
