Maintaining the vaccine cold chain in primary care

It is important that vaccines are handled correctly in primary care, and that there is a policy for maintaining the cold chain in each setting where vaccines are used. We have developed a sample policy for maintaining the vaccine cold chain in primary care.  It is intended for local adaptation and adoption.

This document describes general principles which are applicable to established vaccines.  It does not necessarily apply to COVID-19 vaccines, guidance on handling these vaccines can be found here.
