Prescription Management Process within Clinical Homecare Services approved in June 2021 NHMC meeting following full NHMC consultation plus GPhC consultation.  This supersedes the two previous draft documents, Summary of the NCHA Prescription Management Process in Clinical Homecare Services during COVID-19 and Best Practice Guidance for Electronic Transfer of Homecare Prescriptions.

The aim of this briefing document is to encourage standard prescription management processes within homecare and raise awareness within the NHS of the key considerations when assessing whether they need to apply the pandemic clause of the Medicine Regulations by capturing the subtle differences between the process involved in the emergency supply of medicines at the request of a prescriber and the application of the pandemic clause NCHA guidance during Covid-19.
