Since this edition of NICE Bites was published, the MHRA has issued restrictions and precautions on the use of fluoroquinolone antibiotics because of rare reports of disabling and potentially long-lasting or irreversible side effects (see Drug Safety Update for details). NICE Bites is a monthly prescribing bulletin from the North West Medicines Information Centre which summarises key prescribing points from NICE guidance.  NICE Bites No 84, February 2016 includes one topic: Tuberculosis (NICE NG31). Sections covered include: diagnosis and treatment of latent TB, active TB, extrapulmonary TB, drug-resistant TB, multidrug-resistant TB, and prescribing.
