· NHS Digital : Information Governance Alliance

The Records Management Code of Practice for Health and Social Care 2016 was published on 20 July 2016 by the Information Governance Alliance (IGA).

It sets out the required standards of practice in the management of records for those who work within or under contract to NHS organisations in England, based on current legal requirements and professional best practice.

Appendix 3 of the Code contains the detailed retention schedules. It sets out the minimum periods for which the various records created should be retained, either due to their ongoing administrative value or as a result of statutory requirement.
