Safety in Lactation: Posterior pituitary hormones and antagonists

Vasopressin and its analogues are indicated for the management of diabetes insipidus and the emergency treatment of bleeding oesophageal varices. They are present in milk in low levels which will be degraded in the infant’s GI tract before absorption.
Tolvaptan and demeclocycline are indicated for the management of hyponatraemia secondary to the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion.
