Shortage of hydrocortisone 100 mg/mL or 500mg/5ml Injection

· London and South East Regional Medicines Information

The supplier of hydrocortisone sodium phosphate injection (formerly Efcortesol) is currently out of stock due to an issue with the active pharmaceutical ingredient. Further supplies are not due until late in 2018. This memo discusses the use of Solu-Cortef® (hydrocortisone sodium succinate) as an alternative. Great Ormond Street Hospital has produced a patient information leaflet on how to reconstitute Solu-Cortef®.
