UKMi Workforce Development Working Group
The group has led on the development of a national scheme for the formal training and assessment of pharmacy technicians working in Medicines Information. It equips technicians to answer certain categories of medicines information enquiries without a further check.
Technicians attend the National MI Training course then complete a work based portfolio over the next 9 months.
Applications should be made through the National MI Training course nomination form and the AMITTS application form.
Details of course and key dates for Cohort 12:
Residential Course (National MI Training course): 16th to 19th October 2018 (16th is an additional day for technicians and mentors)
Portfolio completion for assessment deadline: August 2019 (date to be confirmed)
Assessment interview: September 2019 (date to be confirmed)

Residential Course (National MI Training course): 18th to 21st June 2019 (18th is an additional day for technicians and mentors)
Portfolio assessment: last date for submission – to be confirmed
Assessment interview: to be confirmed
The application form for the course should be completed in addition to the National MI Training course nomination form. For information on course fee please contact the Scheme Director.
See below for the current AMITTS application form. For pharmacy technicians new to the scheme, the course manual and other information relevant to the course are now contained in an e-portfolio.
The paper manual and portfolio are still in use for MI technicians wishing to add additional enquiry types to their original accreditation.
