UKMi Workforce Development Working Group

The group has led on the development of a national scheme for the formal training and assessment of pharmacy technicians working in Medicines Information. It equips technicians to answer certain categories of medicines information enquiries without a further check.

Technicians attend the National MI Training course (NMITC) then complete a work based portfolio over the next 9 months.

Details of course and key dates for Cohort 14

The next AMITTS course will be a virtual course which will run in October 2020 prior to the NMITC commencing in November 2020.

The AMITTS application form for the course should be completed in addition to the National MI Training course registration of interest via Eventbrite. If you previously completed an AMITTS application form for the March 2020 course then there is no need to submit another but it is also important to register your interest for the NMTIC via EventBrite.

Please send the completed AMITTS application form to the AMITTS Scheme Director.

See below for the current AMITTS application form. For pharmacy technicians new to the scheme, the course manual and other information relevant to the course are now contained in an e-portfolio. A log in will be provided once accepted onto the course.

The paper manual and portfolio are still in use for MI technicians wishing to add additional enquiry types to their original accreditation.
