We begun the day with the NHS Long Term plan and the implications for CHS. Colleagues from the RCN talked about the role of the nursing associate and transcribing.
In the afternoon we looked at the safety of anticipatory prescribing in CHS settings. The work led by Cambridge University on the evidence and guidance that there is to support anticipatory prescribing was presented. The CQC then followed by challenging attendees on what assurances they had that anticipatory prescribing was safe in their organisations.
The day concluded with an update of the work Specialist Pharmacy Service are doing on the national medicines governance programme which supports the Carter 2 report.
