Specialist Pharmacy Service and the Secure Environment Pharmacists Group held a national network day on 18 March 2014

The Health and Justice Pharmacy Network event was a joint meeting supported by the Secure Environments pharmacists group. The meeting will provide pharmacists and pharmacy technicians delivering supply and medicines governance/optimisation support and pharmacists supporting the commissioning of Health and Justice services with:
- An overview of the Specialist Pharmacy Services and SEPG
- An update of national medicines workstreams relating to Health and Justice medicines issues being facilitated via NHS England
- Themed sessions on Pain Management in Secure Environments with an overview for from Dr Ian Brew (RCGP lead) on relevant national guidance, outcomes from the national gabapentin and pregabalin audit and implementation and sharing of some examples of revised pain management and medicines pathways from two prisons
- A workshop session enabling attendees to share their solutions to: local issues, formulary adjustments and medicines handling for medicines used to treat pain.
