Identification and management of common conditions in older people: Pain and Frailty
This learning event aimed to provide the best available evidence and practice guidance to improve outcomes and optimise medicines use in these common but challenging conditions. The first part of the day covered current therapeutic research evidence for managing pain in older people and how we manage particular challenges including pain assessment, adverse drug effects, non-adherence and self-management. The second part of the day focused on frailty as a syndrome, its impact on managing polypharmacy and then best practice for optimising medicines in frailty across care settings was show cased.
