Medicines Use and Safety Network Autumn Meeting

Agenda

We are delighted to invite you to attend the SPS Medicines Use and Safety Network meeting which will be held on Wednesday 23 October 2019 at NCVO, 8 Regents Wharf, London N1 9RL.

Title of this event: Patient safety: the national strategy and examples from practice.  The programme is attached below.

Purpose of this event: To gain strategic-level insights into developments within patient safety; and learn about successful medication safety interventions from the WHO good practice repository.

Anticipated topics: What to expect from the national patient safety strategy, the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch and a Medicines Governance best practice model.  The afternoon has some excellent examples of practice that were accepted onto the WHO good practice repository, including work around opioids in chronic pain, cardiometabolic risk in severe mental illness, valproate in females and an integrated medicines optimisation service

**POSTERS INVITED****  Do you have a poster that you’d like to bring to the event to share informally with your peers through the day?  It can be a poster that you’ve presented locally, or at a conference, or not yet presented at all!  The topic needs to relate to medicines use and/or medicines safety and we can provide white tac to put it up on the walls of our room at the network meeting venue.  Your peers will be able to look at them during coffee breaks and lunch and it will be a great opportunity for networking.  We are trying this out for the first time at the October meeting to gauge interest.  We can accept up to 5 posters for the event due to wall space.  If you are interested, please email a copy of your poster to Barry and see if there is space: barry.jubraj@nhs.netThank you to those who have already been in touch.

Registration for the network meeting is now open.  Click here for the Registration Form.   Confirmation will be sent during week beginning 23 September.

You are welcome to share this invitation with relevant people in your organisation, although, as places are limited and the meeting is being advertised on a national basis, initially only one place will be confirmed for each organisation.

As places are limited and there is no charge for the meeting (lunch is provided), once a place has been confirmed please let us know if you are unable to attend.  You can send a deputy or we can offer the place to another delegate on the waiting list.

We look forward to welcoming you on the day.
