MUSN Monthly Webinar – Why is frailty important to how we practice as pharmacists?

Agenda

THURSDAY 9th May at 13.00 – 14.00

Frailty affects approximately 15% of patients over the age of 65 years.  It is a state of vulnerability that increases the likelihood of adverse health outcomes when exposed to a stressor and is associated with medication related harm.  To effectively optimise medicines use in a frail older population and reduce medication harm pharmacists would benefit from understanding this complex syndrome and it’s interaction with medicines.

This very popular webinar  described frailty, summarised findings from recent clinical studies; including the PRIME Study (with a focus on transitions of care); and provided some practical pointers for pharmacists across care sectors.  There was great audience participation via questions from our audience and we hope to add a transcript soon.

Presented by Lelly Oboh, Consultant Pharmacist, Care of Older People at Guys & St Thomas NHSFT and

Jennifer M. Stevenson, Clinical Academic Pharmacist, Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kings College London, Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust
