North Yorkshire Antimicrobial Stewardship Group

Coordinator Rachel Ainger, Strategic Lead Pharmacist, North Yorkshire & AWC Medicines Management Team

The North Yorkshire Antimicrobial Stewardship Group (NYAMSG) was established in October 2016 to oversee antimicrobial stewardship at scale where possible across the North Yorkshire CCGs, including oversight of the implementation of NICE guideline NG15 which requires healthcare organisations to have systems and processes in place to enable safe and effective use of antimicrobials. The remit also includes support and steer for the implementation and compliance in relation to the Code of Practice for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections.

NYAMSG is a multi-disciplinary group comprising infection prevention and control, management and clinical professionals; working across a countywide footprint provides economy of scale and fits with other aspects of service provision in terms of footprint e.g. infection control, public health.
