Specialist Pharmacy Service announce the start of a new focus on medication safety in palliative and end of life care

We want to hear from you

Are you a healthcare professional involved in palliative and end of life care? To guide our work, we would be grateful if you could complete this short Microsoft survey.

We are looking to gather information around the challenges or concerns relating to the safe use of medicines in palliative and end of life care. We are also hoping to gather information on any work that is being carried out to improve medicines use and safety in this field. Both topics form part of the same survey.

New key priority area

SPS has identified medicines safety in palliative and end of life care as a key priority area to improve patient safety and reduce patient harm.

Palliative and end of life care is managed across different settings. Getting medicines use and safety right is important at this emotional stage of life for all concerned.

Aim

The aim of this safety focus is to develop resources to support safer use of medicines used in palliative and end of life care across all care settings.

Scope

We are interested in collating a list of challenges as well as examples of safety initiatives undertaken in palliative and end of life care in all care settings.
