Speakers from NHS Medicines Procurement Supply Chain (MPSC) and NHS Specialist Pharmacy Services (SPS) provided an update on the requirements to request off-contract claims and the expectations of suppliers when responding to requests to approve off-contract claims. There was also a demonstration of the new features within Exend+ and how these can help to streamline the recording and management of off-contract claims within NHS Trusts.
This webinar was intended for NHS procurement, invoicing and administration teams who are responsible for ordering routines, contract variance coding in Exend+ and processing off-contract claims.
There was an opportunity to ask questions of NHS Medicines Procurement Supply Chain and NHS SPS colleagues.
Why it’s important
Consistency of medicines supply is a continual challenge for NHS pharmacy procurement teams. Sourcing alternatives to the contracted product is a frequent task and puts financial pressure on NHS Trusts. Having a regular and successful process for processing off-contract claims enables the difference in value to be recouped and reduces the financial impact.
What was covered
- Clarification on the terms and conditions of MPSC contracts.
- What this means for off-contract claims.
- Explanation of what an off-contract claim is and when claims can be made.
- Introduction to new best practice guidance on managing off-contract claims (which will be published on the SPS website.)
- Demonstration of new features within Exend+ including a new method of managing off-contract claims and producing a claim letter.
