This drop in session will explore chemical and physical stability challenges in aseptic services illustrated by example molecules.
Why it’s important
Understanding the chemical and physical stability of medicines prepared in pharmacy aseptic services is essential for ensuring product quality and patient safety.
This session will explore how medicines behave during preparation and storage, using piperacillin/tazobactam, azacitidine and dacarbazine as examples to highlight the stability challenges that matter in day‑to‑day pharmacy aseptic work. A practical, case‑based session designed to support confident, evidence‑led decision‑making in aseptic services.
This session will help attendees by exploring:
- examples of molecules with different degradation pathways
- factors affecting chemical and physical stability
- approaches to mitigating degradation
Intended audience
The session is suitable for NHS:
- aseptic services teams
- accountable and authorised people
- production and QA/QC teams
Speakers
The session will include a presentation and a Q&As session supported by members of the SPS team.
