An introduction to the iQAAPS system, with information on how to access the system, find training resources and support contacts

Introducing iQAAPS

Interactive Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services (iQAAPS) is a web browser based system to support SPSQA oversight and external audit of NHS Section 10 pharmacy aseptic preparation. iQAAPS incorporates the Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services 5th Edition standards by kind permission of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and NHS Pharmaceutical QA Committee.

The system supports external audits, submission of quality indicators and internal audits.

External audits

The iQAAPS system is used to support external audit of NHS Section 10 pharmacy aseptic preparation in accordance with NHS England’s guidance on assurance of aseptic preparation of medicines.

iQAAPS is used to

  • submit the pre audit questionnaire
  • document audit findings
  • publish a digital copy of the audit report
  • produce action plans in response to deficiencies identified during the audit
  • approve audit action plans
  • monitor progress of action plans through to closure

Quality indicators

All NHS pharmacy aseptic units undertaking aseptic preparation are required to submit monthly high level quality indicator data into iQAAPS to provide SPS QA oversight between audits. Our provides more information.

Failure to submit data may result in escalation in accordance with NHS England’s guidance on assurance of aseptic preparation of medicines.

Note: This does not replace the need for sites to have locally defined key quality and performance indicators.

Internal audits

Units may record findings from their own internal audit against the QAAPS standards using the iQAAPS system. Findings can be documented and risk rated, with local action plans established. This allows units to self-assess compliance with the QAAPS standard and take a risk-based approach to address non-compliance.

Using QAAPS

iQAAPS is a web browser-based system which requires no local installation. Training resources and system support are provided with more details below.

Note: Users may need to contact their local IT department depending on local restrictions and permissions to access the website.

Accessing the system

The iQAAPS system may be accessed at vision.quiqcloud.com/login (login required).

Each unit requires an iQAAPS user account for the Chief Pharmacist and Accountable Pharmacist. Additional user accounts may be requested by the Chief Pharmacist or Accountable Pharmacist by emailing QuiqSolutions (part of Citation).

User training

Training resources including a recording of an introductory training session, “how to” videos and system user guide are available from the iQAAPS system via the menu bar (Help Videos/Guides).
